Food to put you in the Mood!

Kittens and Toms are generally a horny bunch, but I thought I would encourage you even more with a list of foods that are natural aphrodisiacs. So you can really think about what to eat at that pre-KK party dinner.

Oysters

Oysters are known as The Love Drug. In fact, they are so highly regarded that they have their own national day (August 5th in case you were wondering). Both Cassanova and Cleopatra were both big lovers of Oysters (enough said!)

The science behind them, Oysters improve dopamine levels, which boost libido in both men and women. Oysters are also high in Zinc which is vital for testosterone production and healthy sperm.

Maca

Maca is known by many as “Peru’s Natural Viagra”. The maca plant is used in Peruvian culture to increase strength, stamina, energy, fertility, and libido. Who wouldn’t want that?

Pine Nuts

Pine nuts are high in Zinc, a property that has been shown to boost testosterone levels in the body, stimulating sexual appetite.

Watermelon

Research on Watermelon has led scientists to believe it delivers Viagra-like effects on the blood vessels throughout the body and may increase libido.

Watermelon contains Citrulline, which is good for the cardiovascular system and helps to relax the blood vessels that increase sex drive. Plus, with hardly any calories this has to be a winner!

Sweet Potatoes

Sweet potatoes are high in potassium which combats high blood pressure, a leading factor of erectile dysfunction. They also contain beta-carotene, providing Vitamin A, which boost fertility.

Ginger

Ginger is another super horn food, it increases the blood flow in sexual organs and warms the blood, optimising the body’s temperature.

Chocolate

My favorite on the list! Chocolate comes from cocoa beans which in its processed form is known as cocoa. Cocoa is widely regarded as a superfood. It has more antioxidants than green tea or red wine and contains a stimulating chemical known as Phenylethylamine, this stimulates the senses of excitement and well being.

A study for The Journal of Sexual Medicine found women who enjoyed a daily piece of chocolate had a more active sex life than those who didn’t. There goes the guilt the next time you stick into that chocolate bar!

Chillis

Chillis make everything in your body HOTTER! Capsaicin that is contained within chillis and what makes them so hot promotes the release of chemicals that can raise your heart rate and trigger the release of endorphins. Giving you a natural high, and increased libidos.

So the next time your cooking dinner, have a think about your ingredients, it could really improve your evening!
